The global use of geographic information systems (GIS)/location intelligence is expected to double by 2023, becoming a $10 billion industry. To maximize the underst和ing 和 effectiveness of this technology in the private sector, the University of Redl和s School of 业务 has partnered with Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, to launch the Spatial 业务 Initiative.
The Spatial 业务 Initiative will entail innovative educational programs, ground-breaking research, 和 national 和 international advisory offerings with the purpose of enabling businesses to realize the value of location intelligence 和 to create leaders who can use this intelligence to transform their businesses.
“With 80 percent of business data containing geographic information, location analytics delivers business insights into markets, 客户, 物流, 和 supply chains like never before,” 托马斯·霍兰, H. Funded through a grant from Esri, the Spatial 业务 Initiative will offer a one-of-a-kind online 工商管理硕士 with a concentration in location analytics starting in September 2018. Following close behind will be the launch of the formal certificate in location analytics in January 2019, offered both online 和 on the main University of Redl和s campus.
除了, the Spatial 业务 Initiative is surveying businesses across diverse industries to better underst和 how businesses use location intelligence, including strategies, 成本, 好处, 风险, 挑战, 和趋势. Results of the first survey will be reported at the 业务 Summit during the July 2018 Esri User Conference in San Diego.
Other initiative projects include an annual research conference; executive training; 和 an Esri Press book, Spatial 业务: Competing 和 Leading with Location Intelligence.
The University of Redl和s has been a leader in spatial education for over a decade through both its School of 业务 和 College of Arts 和 Sciences. 除了 to offering the new 工商管理硕士 with a concentration in location analytics, the U of R School of 业务 is the only business school that requires a location analytics course for undergraduates 和 hosts two GIS-for-business research enterprises: the Center for Spatial 业务 和 Institute for Spatial Economic Analysis (设想).
